Officers called in after van driven erratically

Updated at 2 p.m.: Greater Sudbury Police said today's police chase began in the downtown core with multiple traffic violations.

An eye witness to the end of the police chase through downtown Sudbury said the suspect slammed into a police cruiser that was attempting to cut off his vehicle at the intersection of Kathleen Street and Melvin Avenue.

The collision caused the suspect's vehicle to spin onto the sidewalk before coming to a stop.

He called the event “exciting,” and said other people he talked to who know the suspect said he was acting oddly the day before.

Police are looking for anyone who witnessed the incident or whose vehicle sustained damage in the incident to contact them. You can reach the police at 705-675-9171.
