Greater Sudbury Police are continuing their investigation into the death of a 65-year-old male whose body was located at the rear of a residence at 193 St. Charles Street in the Flour Mill early Friday morning.

The deceased had been identified as Romeo Eshquib.

Police and ambulance had attended that address after receiving a 911 call from a resident of the area.

A post-mortem has been conducted on the deceased male and forensic identification officers were collecting evidence from the scene throughout the weekend and into Monday morning.

Edlord John Toulouse, 40, was arrested without incident at the scene and charged with murder. He was scheduled to make a brief appearance in bail court Monday, but a full bail hearing is not expected for some time.

A neighbour near the residence said several other neighbours told her the deceased was killed when he was pushed down a long set of stairs.

Neighbours also told her a late night party was underway when things suddenly turned violent.

Members of the criminal investigations branch have been interviewing witnesses and canvassing the neighbourhood. Police will be forwarding samples and exhibits to the Northern Forensic Regional Laboratory in Sault Ste. Marie for further testing.
