Man killed in weekend boating fatality

One young man is dead and another charged with impaired driving following an accident at the east end of Ramsey Lake, just off the shore of Cooper Island, around 5 pm Saturday.
One young man is dead and another charged with impaired driving following an accident at the east end of Ramsey Lake, just off the shore of Cooper Island, around 5 pm Saturday.

Samuel Pisani, 23, was ejected from a small boat he was a passenger in when it collided with 19-foot vessel occupied by a family of four.

The driver of the small boat, Michael Christakos, has been charged with impaired driving causing death.

Christakos is also charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident, and operating a vehicle with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in his system.

Pisani was transported to St. Joseph Hospital Centre where he was pronounced dead.

The family in the other boat were treated in hospital for injuries and released. They do not want their names published.
