Man nabbed after trying to cash cheque he allegedly stole from Riverside Dr. business

A 28-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly trying to cash a cheque he stole after breaking into a Riverside Drive business.

At around 5:40 a.m. July 18, Greater Sudbury Police were called out to the Riverside Drive business in relation to an alarm.

Officers found that the business had been broken into and various items taken. The suspect had fled before police arrived.

Police obtained video surveillance footage and a description of the person responsible.    

Later that day, a man matching the description entered an establishment downtown and attempted to cash a cheque that was reported stolen from the break and enter earlier that day.  

Officers from the Break, Enter and Robbery (B.E.A.R.) Unit located the man and arrested him without incident. Two stolen cheques were found in the man’s possession.

The suspect has been charged with one count of break, enter and theft and one count of stolen property obtained by crime.
