M'Chigeeng man charged in connection to trio of stolen vehicle reports

One man has been arrested in connection to a string of three separate stolen vehicle reports.

On Monday, May 27, members from the Manitoulin OPP with the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit and the Emergency Response Team, as well as officers from the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Service and the United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin Anishnaabe Police were called to three separate reports of stolen vehicles.

On June 1, a 20-year-old man from M'Chigeeng was charged with:

  • Theft of a Motor Vehicle - two counts
  • Theft Under $5,000 from a Motor Vehicle
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance - three counts

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Aug. 21 in Gore Bay.

The investigation is continuing.
