A Mississauga man was found to be impaired by almost twice the legal limit Dec. 8 after police were alerted by a concerned citizen to a possible drunk driver, according to Greater Sudbury Police Service.

The caller observed a vehicle that was striking curbs and braking erratically in the area of Brady Street, said police.

The vehicle was later observed by officers on Falconbridge Road in Garson where it was stopped. The driver and passenger of the vehicle told officers that they were in Sudbury to go hunting. The 30-year-old driver was subsequently arrested by the officers for impaired driving, while the 35-year-old passenger, who had also been drinking, was found to be on two separate probation orders both having the condition not to possess any weapons.

Officers located a crossbow and an air rifle in the vehicle. The male passenger was then also arrested for breach of probation.

The driver was charged with impaired and driving while under suspension. The passenger, who is from Brampton, was charged with four counts of breach of probation, possessing weapons while prohibited and resisting arrest.
