After laying close to 30 charges for speeding in a 40 km/h school zone on the first day back to class, Greater Sudbury Police were out in force again Sept. 8, this time laying 51 charges.

Police say the average speed of those charged is 23 km/h over the legal limit and that 75 percent of the charges were made in the former town of Valley East while 25 percent were from Sudbury.

One 22-year-old man was stopped and charged for driving 68 km/h over the limit in front of Ecole Decouverte.

Police say they will continue to enforce a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to speeding in school zones.
