On Friday, Feb. 28, the Greater Sudbury Police Service (GSPS) hosted a virtual Ride-A-Long with Constable Hinds through their Twitter account, during which five drivers were issued $2,815 in tickets.

The first ticket of the afternoon was issued to a driver who failed to stop at a stop sign, resulting in a $110 fine and two demerit points.

A little over an hour later a vehicle was stopped on Lasalle Boulevard for driving 90 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. The driver was issued a fine of $295 and four demerit points.

The next driver pulled over received a $615 fine and three-day licence suspension for distracted driving.

A half an hour later, GSPS said a driver was recorded travelling 100 km/h in a 60 km/h zone, resulting in a $295 fine and four demerit points. But the worst was yet to come.

The last ticket of the afternoon was issued to a driver said to have been travelling 114 km/h in a 60 km/h zone. Considered stunt driving, the stop resulted in an immediate seven-day vehicle impound and seven-day licence suspension and upon conviction, a $1,500 fine.
