Update:

The Niagara Regional Police Service said it cancelled the alert early Saturday morning, even though the girl had still not been located.

Police also said in their release that a child abduction investigation was ongoing.

The Amber Alert said the girl was last seen Dec. 1 in Welland, Ontario, and was believed to be with her mother.

Police said they were operating under a court order to return the child to her father.

The Niagara Regional Police Service has issued an Amber alert for a missing nine-year-old girl.

Layla Sabry (she may also be known as Lana Marie, Lana Haist or Allana Evelyn) is described as a white female, four-foot-two in height with a thin build, brown hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen Dec. 1 at 6 King Street in Welland, Ontario.

Police said the suspect is her mother, Allana Haist. She is described as white, 38 years old, five-foot-one, with medium length brown hair, and brown eyes, and also goes by the names Kate Dillon or Lana Marie.

If Layla is located police ask witnesses call 911, the Niagara Police Service or the OPP.
