Elm St. was closed in both directions between Paris and Lisgar for almost four hours Monday afternoon after a transport truck leaked diesel fuel onto the road.

The truck driver was delivering goods to the Rainbow Centre, ran into a road sign and punctured the truck's fuel tank.

The incident happened just before noon, and the road wasn't re-opened until 3:45 pm as a cleanup crew dealt with the spill and the truck was towed away.

“It would not appear that any fuel leaked into the sewer system. The spill was contained and cleaned up,” said Cst. Bert Lapalme, media relations officer for the Greater Sudbury Police Service.
