No fatal crashes on long weekend in Sudbury

Over the Thanksgiving weekend the Greater Sudbury Police were out in force and have reported a major injury and fatal collision free weekend.

Between Oct. 6 and 9, police charged 132 people for seat belt violations, 107 people for speeding, 21 people for document violations, seven people for intersection violations, four people for illegally parking in handicap spaces, four people for failing to pull to the left when passing an emergency vehicle on the side of the road, one person for driving without a licence and one person for littering on the highway.

According to police, one driver was caught driving 34 km/h over the speed limit in front of St. Joseph's Health Centre resulting in a $259 fine. A second driver was given a summons to appear in court after being caught driving 139 km/h on Municipal Road 80 while a third was fined $301 for driving 121 km/h on Municipal Road 35.
