If you noticed a large police presence in Copper Cliff this morning, officers were on scene to locate a man involved in a hit-and-run motor vehicle collision in the area.

A spokesperson for Greater Sudbury Police said officers were conducting a K9 track and drone search.

The suspect fled on foot after the collision, which occurred just after 7 a.m. Aug. 22 at the intersection of Municipal Road 55 and Power Street. One lane was closed temporarily, but the road was completely reopened as of 11:30 a.m.

Officers have so far been unable to locate the suspect, but the investigation is ongoing. Police said there is no threat to public safety.

The other driver in the collision sustained minimal injuries.
