Two members of the Sudbury detachment of the OPP received a heartfelt "thank you" from a local woman Wednesday after she received some much needed assistance.

The woman, who does not wish to be named, was stranded early Sunday morning when her electric wheelchair was unable to manoeuver through freshly fallen snow.

Senior Const. Steve Ross and Auxiliary Const. Marc Beaudoin came to the rescue when they saw the woman struggling.

The two officers took turns pushing the woman approximately one kilometre to her home.

The weight of the wheelchair exceeded 200 pounds, but this did not deter the officers who wanted to ensure the woman's safe return.

She was extremely grateful for the assistance of the two officers and wanted people to know "this is an example of the good things that police do."
