Greater Sudbury Police were able to locate a lost hiker in the Onaping Falls area Sept. 24.

The hiker had phoned 911 after getting lost. Search and rescue and GPS-trained officers used co-ordinates from the woman's cellphone to locate her. She was in the bush about 1.5 kilometres away from Highway 144.

The woman was in good health, had a fully-charged cellphone, plenty of water and extra clothing. She called police as soon as she was lost, and officers were able to find her before dark.
