Police conduct weekend RIDE checks

Ten people were issued 12-hour suspensions and had their vehicles towed, three people were charged with impaired driving, nine people were charged with Highway Traffic Act offences and one novice driver was charged with having a blood alcohol content above zero.

Last week, police officers were watching for motorists who failed to stop for red and amber lights as well as stop signs.

In total, 31 people were charged with failing to stop for a red light, 18 people were charged with failing to stop for stop signs. In addition, 30 people were charged for speeding in areas where police were watching for motorists who weren't stopping for red lights and stop signs.

This week, police will concentrate their efforts on Highway Traffic Act offences in construction zones.
