Police ID man whose lifeless body was discovered Tuesday morning

He was from Quebec, but police won't be releasing his name

The man whose remains were found behind a Lorne Street business Tuesday morning was from Quebec, Greater Sudbury Police said Wednesday.

While they have identified who the man is, his name won't be released, police said in the news release.

“Police are working with the coroner’s office in relation to this investigation,” the release said. “The cause of death has still yet to be determined.”

Workers behind Covalin Electrical Supply, where the body was found, said the spot is a common one for intravenous drug users, and discarded needles are often found back there. They speculated the man was another unfortunate victim of the opioid crisis.

The man is from Quebec and police are in the process of notifying his next of kin.

The identity of the deceased will not be released.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Det. Const. Reynard Dockery at 705-675-9171, ext. 2346.
