Police looking for alleged attempted abductor

The Greater Sudbury Police Service is looking for a male in his 20s after a rare attempted abduction near Place Hurtubise on Lasalle Boulevard in the early morning hours Wednesday.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service is looking for a male in his 20s after a rare attempted abduction near Place Hurtubise on Lasalle Boulevard in the early morning hours Wednesday.

The female victim was walking along Lasalle near Tekelenburg's restaurant at about 1:30 am Wednesday when a mid-sized, square-shaped red vehicle stopped and a male passenger got out. He approached her from behind and pulled at her backpack, according to police. She got away, but was struck in the face in the process, suffering minor injuries.

Police are looking for a white man in his mid-to-late 20s. He was wearing a dark baseball cap with a logo, dark clothing and ?spoke English.?

Police are requesting the public show ?vigilance and caution? at night or in the area.

Kidnapping attempts are a rare occurrence in Greater Sudbury, according to criminal investigations Staff Sgt. Bob Keetch.
