Police search for south end purse snatcher

Greater Sudbury Police are requesting public assistance in identifying an unknown suspect believed to be responsible for a string of purse thefts in the city's south end. One purse was reported stolen from inside the House of Kin on Regent St.

Greater Sudbury Police are requesting public assistance in identifying an unknown suspect believed to be responsible for a string of purse thefts in the city's south end.

One purse was reported stolen from inside the House of Kin on Regent St. on May 12, while another was taken from an office inside the Medical Arts building on Long Lake Rd. near Shoppers Drug Mart on May 15.

On April 25, police reported an incident whereby a man entered a woman's car parked behind the Medical Arts building. When the woman returned to her car, the man demanded she drive away. The woman ran from the car while the suspect grabbed her wallet from her purse and ran off into the woods towards Brenda Dr.

Police say they believe all three incidents might be related.The suspect is described as white, about six-feet-tall, thin build with a large thin nose, a thin face and sunken-in cheeks. The suspect is thought to be in his late twenties or thirties.
