Police: teen facing several charges following 'crime spree'

A 19-year-old man is facing numerous charges after he stole a vehicle in Capreol late Friday, crashed it in Valley East, entered several others and led police on a chase that ended in Val Caron.

"A 19-year-old male went on a crime spree," Greater Sudbury Police said in a release Saturday. After crashing the car in Val Caron, the suspect "then entered several other vehicles in close proximity of the crash and broke into a residence.  

"One resident observed the male culprit inside his vehicle and subsequently chased him and eventually recovered the culprit’s backpack," the release said. "Inside the backpack were a pellet gun and numerous job resumes."

Greater Sudbury Police arrived and contained the area of Dominion Drive in Val Caron until the canine officer and Tactical officers arrived.  Following a 50-minute canine track, the suspect was found hiding in a field.       
 
He is being held for Bail Court scheduled for Saturday morning and is being charged with the following offences:

·    Two counts of motor vehicle theft, one under $5,000 and 1 over $5,000.  
·    Three counts of theft under $5,000.
·    Four counts of possession of stolen property.
·    Break, enter and theft. 
·    Careless driving.
·    Two counts of breaching of probation.
·    Three counts of trespassing at night.
·    Numerous other Highway Traffic offences.
