Provincial police charge four people with drug offences

A search by provincial police at a home in Sturgeon Falls resulted in the seizure of $17,000 in drugs and four people being arrested.

On Jan. 18, officers searched a home on Railway Street in Sturgeon Falls. They found drug paraphernalia, Canadian currency, digital scales, a cellular device and drugs suspected to be fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, cocaine and psilocybin, valued at $17,000.

A 30-year-old Markstay-Warren man is charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid, and failure to comply with a probation order.

He was released on an undertaking with a court date of March 3 in West Nippising.

A 28-year-old Nipissing First Nation man is charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

A 29-year-old woman from West Nipissing is charged with four counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid, one count of possession of a Schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

She was released on an undertaking with a court date of March 3 in West Nippising.

A 25-year-old man* from West Nipissing is charged with four counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - opioid, one count of possession of a Schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking, failure to comply with a release order, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

He was held in custody for bail court, then remanded back into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Jan. 26 in North Bay.
