Police were called to Adamsdale Playground Sunday evening in regards to a group of youths who had gathered in the park, one of which reportedly had fired a shot from a handgun into the air.

Investigation revealed the gun was a cap-gun and the youth was instructed to bring it home.

Greater Sudbury Police want to remind the public that any type of gun or firearm, real or replica, is treated by police as a real threat, and as such the risk level for the officers and or suspects is heightened.

The frequency of these types of calls are increasing, which is concerning, stated a press release from the police. The Greater Sudbury Police wish to remind the public that air pistols, cap-guns and pellet guns should not be displayed or used in public settings. Doing so could result in an unnecessary injury or a visit by the police.
