Reward offered in decade-long disappearance case

The Ontario Provincial Police and the Temiskaming Shores Police Service has announced the re-issue of a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the disappearance of Melanie Ethier.

On September 29th 1996, at approximately 2 am, Ethier, 15, left a private residence to walk a short distance to her home in Temiskaming Shores. She did not arrive at her residence and was reported missing to the Temiskaming Shores Police later that day.

Ethier is described as a black female, five-foot-five, 120 lbs., brown eyes and long braided hair. She was last seen wearing a green Nike jacket, blue jeans, a white T-shirt with blue heart (Pepe logo) and black boots.  

Police say foul play is suspected in this disappearance.

Police have also accepted a request from Court TV Canada, to feature the Melanie Ethier's case on their program Crime Files: Cold Case Edition. The episode featuring Melanie will be aired Wednesday Dec. 13 at 6 and 11 pm, as well as Dec. 16 and 17 at 6:30 and 11:30 pm.
