Riderless snowmobile, train collide in Hanmer

Around 4 p.m Saturday, Greater Sudbury Police responded to a collision in which a train en route through Hanmer hit a riderless snowmobile.

The snowmobile had gotten stuck on the Cote Blvd. tracks at approximately 3:20 p.m. that afternoon, at which point the riders abanonded the snowmobile and moved to a safe location.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.

Staff Sgt. Adam Walden said the Canadian National Police will handle the investigation because it involves the CN Railway.
