Greater Sudbury Police Service say they have identified several suspects in recent armed robberies.

Staff-Sgt. Todd Zimmerman said early Monday morning the GSPC would be releasing more information on several armed robberies that have taken place in the city in the last two weeks.

At least six robberies have taken place in Greater Sudbury in the last 14 days.

Police say two of the most recent are related, since they occurred within a small amount of time, with the same number of suspects and the same getaway vehicle, which was reported stolen and recovered by police later that night.

Three male suspects robbed the Kwik Way at Elm and Beatty and Mac?s Convenience on Notre Dame Friday night.

With faces disguised, the three men stole an unknown amount of cigarettes from the Kwik Way at about 10:30 pm.

A short time later, police say, the same three took an undisclosed amount of cash from the till at the Mac?s.

The suspects left both locations in a red vehicle which police later recovered in the Donovan area.

The vehicle was reported stolen to police earlier.
On Saturday, a man with a bag over his head tried to rob the Petro Canada on Regent St. with a wooden club.

He entered the gas bar about 11:55 pm and fled when he failed to get any cash.

Police describe him as white, six feet tall and about 160 pounds. He was wearing beige pants and a dark t-shirt over a white long-sleeved shirt.

At about 9:45 pm Thursday, police say two men held up Richer?s Confectionary and got an undisclosed amount of cash for their trouble.

They were both wearing disguises and one threatened the female attendant with a knife.

One suspect was described as about 5-foot-6 and was wearing an off-white ski jacket with a stripe on the arms.

The other was wearing a dark-coloured jacket and is slightly taller than the first. Both suspects are white.

Around midnight last Friday, Nov. 7, a man held up the attendant at Cara?s Conveniece on Lorne with a knife and made off with undisclosed amounts of cash and cigarettes.

He is described by police as about 20, white with freckles. He is 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a slim build and was wearing a dark nylon jacket with a white hoodie underneath and dark, baggy pants at the time of the crime.

On Sunday, Nov. 9, a man entered M&M Variety on Leslie Street at about 6 pm and left with an undisclosed amount of cash. He is also thought to be in his early 20s, white, slim and about 5 feet, 6 inches tall. He was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information about any of these incidents is urged to phone Greater Sudbury Police at 674-7511 or 675-TIPS.
