Robbery suspects caught red handed

Thanks to a citizen's tip, Greater Sudbury Police were able to respond to an early morning break and enter in progress at the Jimi Mart in Coniston. When police arrived on scene at around 2:30 am, they found two culprits still inside the store.

When police arrived on scene at around 2:30 am, they found two culprits still inside the store. The pair was arrested following a short foot chase.

According to police, the suspects were in possession of a car and license plates stolen from the Niagara area, cigarettes from the Jimi Mart, money from an ATM and burglar tools. The investigation revealed the suspects had disabled the security alarm.

A 26-year-old St. Catherine's man and a 24-year-old Fort Erie man have both been charged with break, enter and theft, two counts of possession of stolen property and possession of house breaking tools.

The 26-year-old also faces a breach of undertaking charge while his counterpart is also charged with breach of a peace bond.
