Update: Elm, Elgin intersection clear after crash knocks out light pole

Crash also knocked out traffic lights temporarily

Updated Aug. 27 at 10:52 a.m.: Greater Sudbury Police advise the intersection of Elm and Eglin streets is clear once again, following a crash earlier this morning. A transport truck failed to negotiate the turn onto Elgin Street properly and took down a light pole, pulling it into the intersection.

No word on whether charges will be laid.

Original story

There's been a single-vehicle collision involving a transport truck at the intersection of Elm and Elgin streets in downtown Sudbury, Greater Sudbury Police said on Twitter at 8:48 a.m. Tuesday.

The traffic light is out at the intersection because of damage caused by the truck.

The intersection is also partially blocked.

Elm Street is down to one lane in the area heading toward the extension.
