Spot checks lead to multiple charges

Greater Sudbury Police's Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program was out stopping vehicles in Sudbury and north of Capreol recently.

A total of 950 vehicles were checked by officers in Sudbury Aug. 13. The following charges were issued:

-A three day license suspension for blowing a warn on the approved roadside screening device.
-Two criminal code charges (taking a motor vehicle without consent and obstructing police).
-Eight highway traffic act offenses.

The following charges were issued after spot checks north of Capreol Aug. 16:

- One impaired driving charge filed against a 37-year-old Hanmer man who blew over twice the legal limit of alcohol.
-Two three-day license suspensions for blowing a warn on the approved roadside screening device.
-Three charges for driving a vehicle with no insurance.
-Two charges for driving while under suspension.
-One charge against a driver with a novice violation, Class G1 driving with blood alcohol concentration above 0 mgs of alcohol.
-14 speeding violations.
-19 other highway traffic act charges.
