The Sudbury detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a motor vehicle collision involving two stolen vehicles from the Sudbury area.

According to Constable Laura Houliston, Community Services officer, the Sudbury OPP received a report at 4 a.m. that the two vehicles were abandoned at a railway crossing in Dill Township, 14 kilometres south of Sudbury on May 17.

The two vehicles were stolen from the New Sudbury and Coniston area earlier that morning and left at a railway crossing on Highway 537.

One vehicle had severe damage to the front and rear end and it is believed that it had struck a passing train.

The second vehicle had moderate damage to the front end.

"One struck the side of a train," Houliston said. "The other struck the other vehicle."

No motor vehicle injuries have been reported at area hospitals. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers or the Sudbury OPP.
