Stolen vehicle recovered at RIDE check

A vehicle reported stolen from Hamilton was stopped at a RIDE check May 19, said Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Officers were set up on Paris Street when the vehicle was stopped. Further investigation revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen. 

The driver of the vehicle was charged with possession of stolen property, obstructing police and breach of court order. The driver was also a suspended driver.

The two passengers in the vehicle were also charged with being an occupant in a stolen motor vehicle.   

Officers handed out 19 other Highway Traffic Act charged during the RIDE check, but no impaired driving charges were issued, although three demands were made for breath samples.

A total of 498 vehicles were checked when officers set up on Notre Dame Avenue and Paris Street.
