Espanola OPP charged a 20-year-old man for stunt driving on July 16.

At around 3 p.m. on July 16, OPP officers observed an eastbound vehicle was observed travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 17, in the township of Sables-Spanish Rivers and as a result was stopped for stunt driving.

A 20-year-old Sudbury man was charged with race a motor vehicle, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and the vehicle he was operating was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on Aug. 11.

Every person convicted of race a motor vehicle is liable to a fine of not less than $2,000 and not more than $10,000 or to imprisonment for a term of not more than six months, or to both, in addition to his or her driver’s licence being suspended.
