Sudbury Police arrest man on child pornography charges

Greater Sudbury Police arrested and charged a 33-year-old man on Oct. 17 in connection to an investigation of possession and distribution of child pornography.

In June of 2018, the British Columbia Internet Child Exploitation Section of the RCMP (B.C. ICE) identified a man who was accessing, possessing, and making available child pornography.

In October of 2018, after an extensive investigation named Project Endure, information gathered through a forensic examination of the seized computer devices revealed that the man had distributed child abuse material to a person in Greater Sudbury.

On Oct. 17, the Greater Sudbury Police Service Cybercrime Unit executed a search warrant at a Greater Sudbury residence with the assistance of members of the Tactical Unit and Integrated Crime Team – Intelligence Unit. 

Computer devices and cell phones were seized that contained child abuse material. 

A 33-year old man from Greater Sudbury was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of Child Pornography (2 counts)
  • Distribution of Child Pornography
  • Access Child Pornography
  • Makes Child Pornography

He will attend Bail Court on Oct. 18 to answer to these charges.

His name will not been released to protect the identities of child victims.
