Three Sudbury men who pleaded guilty to hunting charges laid by the Ministry of Natural Resources in three separate incidents were sentenced last week.

In the first incident, a 38-year-old Sudbury man was fined $500 after being found with nearly double the legal amount of rainbow trout allowed.

Court heard how the man was fishing with a friend in the McGregor Bay area on Dec. 1 when they were checked by ministry officials. The conservation officers found 18 rainbow trout in a cooler, eight more than the pair were allowed.

A 47-year-old Sudbury hunter was also sentenced and fined $1,000 after he ignored the flashing lights of a Ministry of Natural resources truck on Nov. 26. The man ended up rolling his own vehicle into a ditch in Allan Twp.

He pleaded guilty to failing to stop and hunting deer at night.

Another Sudbury man has been fined $3,000 after using another hunter's game seals and then lying about it to conservation officials during a routine inspection in Allan Twp. on Nov. 26.

The 43-year-old told officers that tags found on two harvested deer were put on by members of his hunting party who had gone home.

Inquiries showed the seals had been given to the accused in advance by hunters who were not present for the kills.
