Suspected drug deal gone awry; police

Greater Sudbury Police Service officers were patrolling the Flour Mill area on May 8 when they observed what they believed to be persons involved in the drug subculture engaged in an altercation.

Greater Sudbury Police Service officers were patrolling the Flour Mill area on May 8 when they observed what they believed to be persons involved in the drug subculture engaged in an altercation.

Officers witnessed a female and a male having a heated argument. Before police could intervene, the female pulled out a knife and swung it at the male, cutting him. The male and female continued to  fight and were apprehended by police.

They were brought to the hospital for treatment of their injuries and released.

The female has been charged with assault with a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and breach of probation.

The male has been charged with aggravated assault, personation with intent, obstruct police, two counts of breach of probation and breach of an undertaking.

A third person was detained in relationship to the investigation. A second male has been charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance.

All three parties are currently in police custody pending appearance in bail court.
