A 35-year-old Sudbury high school teacher has been charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation following an alleged incident ongoing since November.
St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School teacher Paul Bedard is scheduled to appear in court June 5.
The case involves a 15-year-old girl enrolled at the school.
Interim director of the Sudbury Catholic District School Board, Bob Boucher, said Bedard has been suspended with pay pending the police investigation and the entire legal process.
Boucher said the board was notified of the situation May 13.
?We had a person of authority who has to report certain incidents by law to either the CAS, (Children?s Aid Society) or police when they are aware of certain things and that?s how the alert came,? said Boucher.
Bedard was charged May 14.
