A 15-year-old boy has been charged by Greater Sudbury Police with robbery and possession of stolen property after he was arrested following the robbery of Notre Dame Avenue convenience store Monday evening.

Police say the young man entered Legace's Confectionary around 5:15 pm, but left after 10 to 15 minutes. He returned shortly afterwards armed with a hatchet, and robbed the store of a quantity of cash and cigarettes.

The culprit ran to the back of the store where he met up with an accomplice. The two then fled towards the Donovan area.

A uniform officer and a K-9 unit were able to track them down, finally making an arrest in the Eva Street area. Some of the stolen property was recovered. The alleged robber is scheduled to appear in youth court today for a bail hearing.

Police would request anyone with information, especially customers entering Legace's around 5:15 pm, to call them at 675-9171.
