Weekend RIDE results for Dec. 28

On Friday, Dec. 28, officers of the traffic management unit conducted RIDE checks in the Minnow Lake area as well as the Hanmer area with the following results:

120 vehicles were stopped resulting in 12 people being suspected of drinking and driving
Four twelve hour suspensions were issued
Five Highway Traffic Act charges were laid
Two people were charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance and another for driving under suspension.

A 48-year-old Hanmer male was charged with impaired driving and Blowing over the legal limit while another 31-year-old male from Blezard Valley was charged with blowing over the legal limit and possession of a controlled substance (Oxycodine).  Both drivers were suspended for 90 days and had their vehicles towed from Hanmer.

Uniformed patrol officers since Dec. 28 have charged an additional 5 people with impaired driving resulting in 90 day suspensions.
