Weekend stabbing leaves one man in hospital

One man is in custody following a stabbing in the downtown area this weekend. Greater Sudbury Police were called to an address on Pine Street on Sunday, June 30, around 2:30 am after receiving word of a stabbing.

Greater Sudbury Police were called to an address on Pine Street on Sunday, June 30, around 2:30 am after receiving word of a stabbing. A lone male, armed with an edged weapon, was found at the scene but fled once police arrived.

With the help of a police dog, officers located the man at the CP Rail Yard and arrested him.

Charged with attempted murder, threatening bodily harm, assaulting police, resisting arrest, breach of recognizance, breach of probation and possession of a dangerous weapon is 36-year-old Keith Belleau of no fixed address.

The 20-year-old male victim of the attack is in hospital in serious but stable condition.
