Woman assaulted in “unprovoked attack”

Members of the Greater Sudbury Police were dispatched to an assault complaint in Garson on the morning of May 8. An investigation revealed that a male was assaulting a female in her vehicle, in what police described as an unprovoked attack.

Members of the Greater Sudbury Police were dispatched to an assault complaint in Garson on the morning of May 8.

An investigation revealed that a male was assaulting a female in her vehicle, in what police described as an unprovoked attack.

A local couple, who were about to leave their residence,  heard cries for help and immediately attended the area to assist the victim.

They were successful in detaining the suspect until police arrived. 

The suspect kicked out the window of the cruiser as he was being transported to police headquarters.

A 39-year-old Garson man was charged with two counts of assault, one count of threaten death, one count of mischief and one count of breach of probation.

He is currently in police custody pending a bail court appearance.
