UPDATE: After two more witnesses took the stand today, the preliminary inquiry came to an end. The judge ruled that there was sufficient evidence for the youth to go to trial, however, no date has been set.

UPDATE: The preliminary inquiry is expected to wrap up Tuesday.

Friday saw more Crown witnesses take the stand and Monday brought a few witnesses called by the defence.

Three more witnesses are expected to be questioned on Tuesday.

A publication ban has been imposed on the preliminary inquiry hearing, banning the release of evidence presented during the course of the proceedings.

The preliminary inquiry for the youth accused of murdering 25-year-old Lindsay Lemieux last year, returned to Youth Court Thursday.

The Crown called a number of witnesses throughout the day. A ban issued by the court prevents any evidence given at the inquiry from being published.

In the youth's first court appearance in November, the assistance Crown attorney advised the court, if found guilty, an adult sentence would be imposed. Defence attorney Terry Waltenbury declined to offer comment on the issue but said his client would have an opportunity to seek bail at the completion of the inquiry.

The inquiry is set to continue Friday morning with more witnesses taking the stand. Seven days have been set aside for its completion.

A preliminary inquiry is a hearing held to determine if there is sufficient evidence for the accused to stand trial.

Lemieux was found stabbed to death in her Val Caron home on Nov. 10. The youth was charged after being apprehended later in the day, near Massey.
