The St. Joseph Catholic Elementary School community in Killarney recently honoured a very special person.
Lorna Delamorandiere worked at St. Joseph’s for 15 years as a lunch supervisor. She passed away in 2014.
Her obituary said she held the pupils at the school — past and present — “close to her heart.”
This year, a sturdy bench was installed in the playground to ensure her spirit and presence is felt among the students.
Father Peter Moher of Holy Redeemer parish blessed the bench this past week. Teacher Irene Dembek also shared her memories of Delamorandiere, who she considered her friend and confidante.
Delamorandiere's sister Lois was also present for the special moment.
