Sudbury upends Kitchener-Waterloo on the road

The Sudbury Five improved their record to 6-2 on Thursday night as they knocked off the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans by a score of 122-114.

Point guard Braylon Rayson led the way offensively for the Five, dropping 33 points, including going 6 for 11 from three point range. North York native Grandy Glaze was once again a force off the bench, chipping in with 25 points and 15 rebounds.

Week one standout and player of the week Jaylen Bland had a tough night shooting, going 4 for 20 from the field with all 12 of his points coming from outside the arc.

The game was tightly contested at halftime, with the Five going into the break up by just a single point, 59-58. The Five stormed out of the gates in the second half, opening up their lead to seven points to 90-82 heading into the final frame.

In a back and forth final quarter the teams traded baskets, putting up more than 30 points apiece, with the Five coming out on top by a 122-114 final.

The team returns home this weekend for a pair of games where they'll take on the defending NBL Canada champions the London Lightning on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m.

On Sunday the Five will get their first visit from the Halifax Hurricanes, with tip-off set for 2:05 p.m.
