Sudbury native Todd Bertuzzi and the
men's ice hockey team had a successful debut Wednesday,
beating up on their Italian hosts 7-2.
Bertuzzi was his usual rough and tumble self
in the first game, playing a physical brand of hockey and
picking up two assists. Unfortunately, his success was
sidelined by the fact former NHL player Steve Moore filed a $15
million civil lawsuit against Bertuzzi Wednesday, stemming from
an on-ice incident during a game in 2004.
Team Canada plays the German team Thursday
afternoon at 2 pm. The game will be televised on CBC (channel
9, cable 8).
