Chicago Blackhawks forward and Lively native Andrew Desjardins will host the third annual Andrew Desjardins Golf Classic at the Lively Golf and Country Club on July 21.

Through past tournaments, Desjardins and wife Mandy have raised more than $50,000 for a number of community initiatives around Lively.

Past initiatives have included financial support to the Walden Minor Hockey to provide equipment for youth players and the Sixth Avenue Playground Association to develop a multi-season ice pad.

This year the Desjardins plan to donate funds to the rejuvenation of the Lively Ski Hill chalet, as well as to the NEO Kids Foundation.

“Mandy and I have been lucky enough to have a happy and healthy baby boy, but as parents we now understand that there exists a need for what the NEO Kids Foundation is trying to achieve,” Desjardins said in a press release.

“All I can hope is that this golf tournament continues to give back to children and youth within the City of Greater Sudbury.”

The Andrew Desjardins Golf Classic will kick off July 21 at 12:30 p.m.
