Women can now get their booties in gear as Booty Camp Fitness comes to Sudbury.

Sammie Richards, a native of Coniston, will be launching her fitness enterprise in her home town early September, making Sudbury the 29th location for Booty Camp Fitness in Ontario.

"It's been really well accepted every where we've been," said Richards. "The women absolutely love it."

Richards, who lived in the City of Greater Sudbury for 20 years and has lived in Toronto for the past five, came up with Booty Camp Fitness just over a year ago.

Richards had a personal training company and didn't like the idea of working out indoors. She started brainstorming about ways to get her girls outside. The idea of group workouts in the park arose, and then came the idea of Booty Camp Fitness.

She started advertising in her personal training database, put up some fliers and within 24 hours the first class was sold out. Richards launched a second class and withing 48 hours that class was sold out.

After conducting so many classes a week Richards said she realized that she physically couldn't do this on her own.

Richards and her husband JP didn't like the idea of having employees and decided to license out the program. She wanted to give women the opportunity to make money doing something that they loved and were passionate about.

In just over a year Richards has licensed 29 locations with Sudbury being the most recent.

Richards said she realized with two GoodLife Fitness gyms opening and Curves being so busy, that there would be a demand for something like booty camp in Sudbury. She was also excited to bring her program back home as well.

Richards claims that her program is a lot of fun and what separates her boot camp from others is that most of them are very military-based and geared mostly towards men.

"What we've taken, is taken that military style of body weight resistance training and working out outdoors and not using equipment, using yourself and drills and made it really fun," she said.

The program is geared towards the areas of the body that women want to work on and tone, with fun music and changing routines so the students are never bored.

The program runs for eight weeks, two nights a week and is progressively challenging, but students are encouraged to work at their own pace.

"You get a chance to work on your own fitness level, there's never any pressure to compete," said Richards.

The program offers a lot of bonuses to their students including three custom design resistance training programs from beginner, intermediate and advanced, so that participants have the opportunity to work out at home as well.

Students are also given a food journal, a healthy cookbook which includes a recipe of the day to keep on track with healthy eating, as well as access to an online community that's exclusive to booty camp fitness to talk to experts and ask any questions that they might have.

Booty Camp Fitness begins at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9 at Kipling Park. Registrations can be done online at www.bootycampfitness.com .
