Canadians’ netminder David Bowen earns top performer award

Goalie sitting fourth among NOJHLers with 2.81 GAA

Rayside-Balfour Canadians goalie David Bowen has been named the Topper’s Pizza Top Performer for the month of November.

The netminder had 1-3-1 win-loss-OT record on the month, with what the club called “a sparkling goals against average of 2.81,” ranking him fourth among the NOJHL’s top goaltenders.

The Unionville native began the 2020-21 NOJHL season playing five of six games against the NOJHL’s top-ranked Timmins Rock. The 20-year-old (his birthday is in November) has a .916 save percentage and ranks second in the league in shots against. With 299 minutes between the pipes this season, Bowen has had more ice-time of all NOJHL goaltenders thus far.

Off the ice, Bowen is studying Sports Administration at Laurentian University.

Drafted by the Sudbury Wolves in 2015, the Canadians said he had a career-highlight back on Feb. 23 when he shut out the CHL-leading Ottawa 67’s 2-0.
