The Rayside Balfour Canadians Jr. ‘A’ announced Tuesday that Skead native Ethan Lavallee has committed to the hockey club for the 2019-20 season.

The 6-7, 225 lb. defencemen will be entering his third season with the Canadians. In 100 career games with Rayside, Lavallee has totalled 23 goals and 41 assists for 64 points.

“Adding a player of Ethan’s caliber and leadership to our lineup is a great boost for our hockey club,” said General Manager Jeff Forsyth. “Ethan is an outstanding young man and a great player both on and off the ice who will be a keep part of our success this season.”

Lavallee rejoins the Canadians with new familiarity in management. Canadians General Manager Jeff Forsyth was behind the bench for the Sudbury Nickel Caps when he and Lavallee won the Big Nickel Tournament and the Great North Midget League championship in the 2016-17 season.

“I’m very excited to be back playing again,” said Lavallee. “I’d like to thank the Burgess Family, the management team, and the coaching staff for the opportunity to join the team this season. We’ve got a highly skilled team this year that I look forward to working with as we fight to bring a championship to Rayside.”

Lavallee and the Canadians will be back in action at home on Thursday as the team welcomes the Elliott Lake Wildcats to the Chelmsford Arena at 7 p.m.
Tickets for Thursday’s game can be purchased at the door prior to the game. Admission for adults is $12, seniors $10, and free for youth under 7.

Season tickets are still on sale for the 2019-20 Canadians season. Fans are encouraged to email Brittany at [email protected] for more info.
