Carpenter leads Lady Vees to winning weekend

The Laurentian University women's basketball squad got back in the win column this past weekend with wins over the University of Western Ontario and the University of Windsor.

Cassandra Carpenter led the way Friday night with 14 points and 10 rebounds as her team dumped Western 64-54.

The Lady Vees continued their winning ways on Saturday night as they lambasted Windsor 83-71.

Carpenter led the charge again, as she posted 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for yet another double double.

The Lady Vees are back in action this weekend as they face Ryerson University on Friday night, and the University of Toronto on Saturday night.

Both games are at the Ben Avery Gymnasium. Games start at 6 pm.

The men's team split their weekend.

On Friday, they lost 66-60 to Western.

Ben Palmer was the main attraction for the Voyageurs as he scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

On Saturday, the men got some revenge as they beat Windsor 64-60.

Palmer led his team again with 15 points.

The men are back in action this weekend when they face Ryerson on Friday night and Toronto on Saturday night at the Ben Avery Gymnasium.

Games start at 8 pm.

The Laurentian swim teams have finished second at the OUA Eynon Divisional Championships.

Willie Paul, Ryan Smith, Marshall Bonner, Colin Jenkins, Anna Lech and Stephanie Kuhn all qualified for the 2005 Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) Championships in Edmonton as a result of their efforts in the pool.
