Sudbury native Cloe Lacasse is making her mark on the University of Iowa's women's soccer team.

Only a few weeks into the season, the Macdonald-Cartier graduate has been a major contributor to the team's 5-0 record — a first in the program history.

Earlier this month, the league named Lacasse as the Big Ten Conference's Freshman of the Week.

Lacasse was instrumental in Iowa's two wins over George Washington and American University. The freshman scored two goals in the Hawkeyes' win over George Washington and then scored one goal and collected on assist in the team's 3-1 victory over American.

On the season, Lacasse has a team-high 14 points with a team-high six goals and two assists. She is the first newcomer to win Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week honors since September 2009.

Lacasse is one of only two players in Iowa program history to win the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Week honors.
