Sudbury Wolves forward Alex Pharand picked up an assist helping Chase Coughlan score the Pack's only goal during a 2-1 OT loss to the Barrie Colts on Feb. 5.

It was a tightly contested defensive affair at the Old Barn in Sudbury on Sunday afternoon between the Barrie Colts and the Sudbury Wolves. Both goalies, Anson Thornton for the Barrie Colts and Nate Krawchuk for the hometown Wolves were on their game in a low-scoring affair, with the Wolves outshooting the Colts 39-30.

Chase Coughlan opened the scoring for the Wolves at 7:50 of the first period on a goal that was assisted by Alex Pharand, which was the only goal of the opening frame, giving the Wolves a 1-0 lead.

There were plenty of chances for both teams in the middle frame, with Barrie winning the period in shots by a score of 12-10, but the period ended with the score still at 1-0 for the hometown Wolves.

The score remained the same until 7:56 of the third period, when Jacob Frasca of the Colts netted his 20th of the season to tie the game at one goal apiece, which would eventually send the game into Overtime.

Ethan Cardwell scored his 26th goal of the 2022-2023 Ontario Hockey League campaign at 3:39 of the extra frame to give the Colts the win and the Wolves leaving the ice with just one point.

After the loss, the Sudbury Wolves have a record of 19-21-5-2 which keeps them in 8th place in the Eastern Conference.

The Wolves have four days off before they hit the ice again for a Friday night game at the Sudbury Community Arena against the Sarnia Sting, with a scheduled 7:05 PM start time.
