The next event in the 2005 Sudbury Fitness
Challenge is sure to get participants soaking wet. The annual
Ian McCloy Island Swim will take place this Sunday, July 17, at
the Laurentian University beach. The swim will feature
distances of 3.2 km, 1.6-km, 400-metres, and a 100-metre Dairy
Queen Youth Challenge.
Registration forms can be obtained from the
Outside Store or the Leisure Services Department at Tom Davies
Square. Registrations will also be accepted on race day before
the swim.
The youth swim starts at 10 am, while the
adult events will commence at 10:30 am.
Wetsuits are not permitted for the
races.
The island swim was named in honour of
McCloy, who was a national record holder in the Masters
1,500-m. McCloy died last year from heart problems.
